Using
the Diamondblock
- The
surface needs to be clean and free from dirt.
If required, clean it using an ordinary household
paper cloth and water (a)
- Take
the water bottle and slightly spray a thin layer
of water over the block (B), to moisten it.
Observe! Nothing else than water is recommended
to use on the block.
- Place
the part to be lapped or fnished on to the block.
Hold the part between three fingers and exerting
medium pressure on it, move it in the form of
"8s", beginning with fairly small
ones and then making them as large as possible,
moving them from side to sode (C). It is advisable
to slightly overlap across the edges of the
block, except in the case of very thin or small-size
parts. Frequently change the position of fingers
so that the thumb, pressure of which is stronger,
does not always press at the same place.
- Check
the progress of work. Add more water if necessary.
- After
lapping, clean the block only with water. Use
compressed air with caution to dry the block.
- After
repeated use, preferential wear may develop
on the surface (usually concave shape). To avoid
this problem, the plate must be reconditioned
with teh whetstone every 5 parts lapped. Apply
manual pressure onto the LarsLap Diamond block
during 3-4 minues as shown in the picture. (D)
