Dupill Group teams with Clark Testing Group

 Clark Nuclear Services, formerly Westinghouse Advanced Energy Systems has a long legacy of commercial nuclear industry services. Since 1993 Clark Nuclear has operated independently providing Equipment Qualification (EQS), Testing and Engineering Services to the commercial nuclear power industry under its 10 CFR 50 Appendix B QA program.

Grit Adhesive Paper
Grit Adhesive Paper is the most widely used material for valve seat grinding. It is available in various types of material such as Ceramic, Alumina, Silicon Carbide, etc. Ceramic available in 40/80/120/180 grit is an excellent choice for hard seated material. The lower grit (40) is available for coarse grinding and hard seat material; the higher grit (80) is available for general use; 120 grit for fine finish, etc. The korn sizes of these papers may vary as much as 5% of the specified grit size due to the manufacturing process of paper. The larger korns will first start the cutting on the valve seat. When pressure is applied, deep scratches may occur in the seat material and can be deeper than the actual seat damage. To avoid these deep scratches, first “break” the paper by running across a cast iron plate. To extend the seat life remove only as much material as absolutely necessary.
Micron Adhesive Paper
Micron is manufactured with each korn being exactly the same size. Therefore all korns will start to cut at the same time and will wear uniformly. These papers are covered on a plastic folio and will remain a uniform thickness regardless of the pressure used. Micron paper may also be used for “wet grinding”. Micron paper is an effective method for use on all seat materials. Micron is measured in um, not grit; the higher the um, the more coarse the grit. For example, 100 um is coarser than 30 um.
 Diamond Grinding Material
The diamond material is available in permanent grinding plates and heads, disposable adhesive paper or grinding paste and the new LapBlock for grinding/polishing plugs and wedges. Diamond is one of the most efficient cutting materials available in uniform grits, each korn being exactly the same size. With diamond material it is not necessary to change the grinding compound when changing grit. Diamond is the best choice for hard seat material, producing quick and accurate results. Diamond is not recommended for soft seat materials such as brass or stainless steel. Use of the diamond on soft seated material will damage the grinding plates.
 Boron Nitride Permanent Grinding Plates
Long Life Boron Nitride permanent grinding plates offer the same quality and performance as diamond material with the added benefit that it does not heat up and require cooling, as does the permanent diamond grinding plates. Cost is approximately twice as costly as the permanent diamond. |
