The
LarsLap mechanically driven valve lapping system
comprises
a number of basic models covering virtually every type
of valve from 1/2" to 47+" (1194+ mm)
in diameter. The patented LarsLap technology utilizes
a mechanically
driven system whereby the rotating drive head incorporates
individually driven grinding wheels to perform
the actual
work of the seat grinding. This unique valve lapping
tool provides the desired crosshatch pattern on
the
valve seat considerably quicker than conventional methods
of valve grinding. Our versatile accessories for
all types
of lapping work are the ideal complement to the basic
portable valve grinders.

Grinding
Technology: Mechanically Driven System
Our
valve lapping equipment uses a patented mechanically
driven system with all grinding wheels moving at the
same rate of speed. This lapping technology produces
a perfect crosshatch pattern because the inside and
outside of the seat is being ground at the same time.
The speed is at least five (5) times faster as a gear
or o-ring is driving each grinding wheel. The driving
plate pivots instead of the grinding wheels, which puts
all the pressure in the middle of the driving plate.
This results in a perfectly flat seat – without
undesirable effects such as concave or convex seats.
These results can return a concave or convex seat, damaged
by improper grinding, to the desired flatness. The direction
of the motor on the LarsLap valve lapping tools can
be easily reversed (compressed air reversible motor
drive).
Valve
Type Capability: Versatile
Models of the LarsLap lapping equipment are capable
of working on Gate Valves, Globe Valves, Check Valves,
Safety Valves and Control Valves. One does not require
an additional machine or accessory to work on each individual
valve type of valve. Each Grinder Model for use with
gate valves is equipped with a wedge plate.
Set Up/Mounting
The LarsLap valve lapping equipment may be set up prior
to entering the valve requiring only fine adjustments
once the machine is mounted in the valve. As the valve
lapping equipment is mechanically driven, it is unnecessary
to have the grinding wheels centered perfectly. The
LarsLap wheels need only to cover the seat in order
to work correctly. The valve grinder is quickly and
easily mounted. The mounting frame does not need to
be removed and reset when changing grinding paper on
the grinding heads or grinding opposite side of seat.
Mounting is versatile – the valve grinder can
be mounted in any direction.
The LarsLap valve grinding equipment is supplied standard
with a generous supply of grinding abrasive papers,
in micron and micron alumina, 80-120-200 grit. Additional
abrasive material and grit is available upon request. |
